San Pedro, CA, June 21, 1999 -- Intusoft is implementing two new pricing models that are unique in the shrink-wrapped EDA marketplace. First, Intusoft will be offering usage-based pricing. Preliminary terms includes $199 set-up fee with a $38 minimum monthly charge (covering license and maintenance fees). Actual usage is priced at $2.00/hour for schematic time, $5.00/hour for simulation time, and $25 per part model used. There is a $100 initial payment towards usage fees. The model fee is only paid one time per each Intusoft part model used. Part models consist of SPICE models and subcircuits. Passive elements and traditional SPICE built-in primitive parts do not incur the charge. There is also no charge for using your own models. Once an Intusoft model fee has been paid, you can reuse the model in other designs at no additional charge.
The usage model offers some significant benefits. First, the start-up costs are greatly minimized. Engineers can get started with a state-of-the-art analog and mixed-signal simulation suite for very little money. The need for a hardware protection device (dongle) and special network licensing provisions are eliminated. Multiple users can run the software on multiple machines. Users can even take the software home and install it on all of the different machines they might use. The accounting and subsequent charges are administered directly over the internet or by the purchasing companys own internal accounting system. Usage-based pricing will be available for both foreign and domestic markets, as well as industrial and educational users.
The second model is a market demand price model. Intusoft will offer software priced via Web Auction on the popular online auction site, eBay(TM). On a periodic basis, one or more of each of Intusofts tools (ICAP/4Rx, ICAP/4Windows, ICAP/4 Professional, Test Designer, Power Supply Designer, and Magnetics Designer) will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Auctions will be limited to North America (U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico). Intusofts first eBay auction will be held from 8 am PDT on Friday, June 18 through 5 pm PDT on Friday, June 25, in honor of the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in New Orleans. The winner will be announced on Monday, June 28, on the company website at: www.intusoft.com. The company will auction off a copy of the latest release of ICAP/4 Windows, a popular analog and mixed-signal circuit simulation package which boasts a large install base of electronic design engineers worldwide.
According to company president Larry Meares, Intusofts first auction will not have a minimum bid, so auction-savvy engineers can take full advantage of the opportunity to save a substantial amount off their purchase. In doing so, we hope to generate extra auction fever among design engineers looking to purchase an exceptional simulation product like ICAP/4 Windows. Intusoft plans to host its second auction within the weeks following the first. The auction dates will be announced on the Intusoft homepage at: www.intusoft.com.
Established in 1985, Intusoft designs develops and markets award-winning software applications and tools for analog and mixed-signal circuit design, analysis and test automation to electronics industries worldwide.
